Richardson Roofing for Storm, Wind, and Hail Damage

Richardson straddles Dallas and Collin counties, with about two-thirds of the city on the Dallas County side. It's home to UT Dallas and the Telecom Corridor. Its housing is older than most of Collin County's. Census data puts the median Richardson home at 1986 construction, and more than half of homes were built before 1990. On houses that age, it's worth checking the decking, attic ventilation, and past repairs, not just the shingles.

    Richardson's recent storms

Richardson has taken a run of storms in the last few years. From NOAA's Storm Events Database:

    • April 27, 2026

1.75-inch hail measured in Richardson, and hail up to 1.25 inches near East Spring Valley Road and South Lois Lane. If nobody has checked your roof since this spring, check your policy's reporting deadline.

    • May 28, 2024

A bow echo hit early that morning. A wind sensor at Methodist Richardson measured 83 mph, and a National Weather Service survey found winds up to 90 mph in part of the city. The worst damage ran from Hillside Avenue southeast to Bowser Road, south of Main Street. City officials reported 111 facilities with damage, and a 70-year-old live oak was uprooted onto a home.

    • September 24, 2023

Hail of 1 to 2 inches near Plano Road and Belt Line Road, with reports up to 2.25 inches, and ping pong ball-size hail falling for four minutes near South Lois Lane and Spring Valley Road.

    • October 20, 2019

The EF-3 tornado that crossed North Dallas continued into the Richland Park, Lakes of Buckingham, Richland Meadows, and College Park subdivisions. It caused widespread tree and roof damage there, and a few homes lost their entire roofs. It then turned north near Richardson Square.

    • April 21, 2017

      Egg-size hail reported in Richardson.

Wind damage is easy to miss

After a windstorm like May 2024, a roof can look fine from the street and still be damaged. Winds of 80 to 90 mph can break the adhesive seal under shingle tabs, crease shingles, and loosen ridge caps without blowing anything off. Those shingles are the first to go in the next storm. Damage you can't see from the driveway still counts.

    Our free inspection covers:

    • Creased, lifted, or unsealed shingles, and damaged ridge caps
    • Hail bruises, mat fractures, and granule loss
    • Dents on vents, gutters, and flashing
    • Damage from limbs or fallen trees
    • Attic signs of leaks, sagging, or stained decking

You get photos and a written summary.

    Insurance: who does what

You file the claim with your insurer. We document the damage. We can be on site when the adjuster inspects and walk the roof with them, and your insurer decides coverage. Texas law requires you to pay your deductible, and it's illegal for a contractor to waive, rebate, or absorb it.
